The Naxals Attack On Security Force Is An Intelligence Failure
In a pre-dawn terror attack of Naxals on the Rani Bodoli base camp in Dantewara district of Chhattisgarh, 55 security personnel lost their lives. No doubt, it was a cold blooded massacre, similar to the day light brutal killing of BJP MP Sunil Mahto in East Singbhum district of Jharkhand, where he was a chief guest of a prize distribution ceremony of a football tournament. Both the attacks were a handiwork of Naxalites and the message they want to convey from these two killings is that anyone who will try to weaken their base, will meet the same fate. Mahto was also an active member of Citizen’s council formed to counter the Naxals and create awareness among local people, especially tribal. The Chhattisgarh, said to be a part of Naxal’s so-called red corridor was on the target for the ongoing aggressive anti Naxal campaign of Police forces and a voluntary Naxal resistance movement ‘SALVA-JUDAM”, similar to the Mahto’s Citizen’s council. Actually, the Naxals have nurtured both the territories with great hardships and they don’t want to loose. This Dantewara massacre is carried out to discourage the local people from fighting the Naxalism through SALVA-JUDAM. So, the main reason behind this massive killing is failure of our own intelligence, as it was not an unexpected attack.

In a recently held meeting of Chief Ministers of India on internal security, the Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh rightly said that, today there is no bigger challenge to the internal security of nation than Naxalism. Everybody in Government and engaged in maintaining law and order is very well aware of the ambitious plan of Naxals to create a red corridor, for which they have made collaborations with several national and international terrorist outfits. Some of the well known left terror groups like, MCC of Bihar and Jharkhand have merged to form a single organization. They are creating new wings, establishing and running several research & development centres, across the country. One of these was recently unearthed in Madhya Pradesh and the petrol bomb used in recent butchery of security persons, is said to be outcome of these R& D centres.
They are equipped with latest and most modern arms and ammunitions. They rule the liberated zones and run their own government and courts of justices.

Besides, all these the Naxals enjoy support of tribal, poor and downtrodden, who in some areas, consider them like a god. Because, the people don’t find the governments elected by them effective, to solve their problems. Furthermore, it is widely said that the Naxals also enjoy the support of politicians, without which such a huge set-up was almost impossible. Is the threats posed by Naxalism on the internal security is not a failure of our own political leadership?
